When it comes to driving a vehicle, would some wheelchair users prefer locking in, in front of the wheel while seated in a manual wheelchair?
This question is being asked by wheelchair users on the internet, if possible would people prefer to sit in their manual wheelchair to drive their car?
Most people will say no to this question because of the safety concerns one would have while seated in a manual chair. If you were curious to how you can use a manual wheelchair to drive a vehicle, this type of idea would be very dangerous because in order to lock the chair into place you would need to lock it onto a harness to keep the chair in place.
Other problems are apparent when you think about using a manual chair as a driver seat in a vehicle. Think about the fact that most manual chairs do not have any type of headrest or support system for your neck.
This means that your head and neck will just hang there without any support system, which would dramatically increase the chance of injury in case of an accident. The scariest situation would be if you were rear-ended and had no support system for your neck, more than likely you would be severely injured in this type of situation.
