Post-Polio Syndrome
People affected by this condition have generally come into contact with the poliovirus. If someone was affected by polio, they will start to feel the effects of post-polio 15 to 30 years after the original illness. People who are affected by the post-polio syndrome may require the use of a wheelchair to help them get around.
If they require a wheelchair, they may also have the need for someone else to push them to propel. If the PPS symptoms are not severe, the user may be able to propel them without assistance.
